I voted for 64bit. I think that it is time for linux to start thinking about abandoning the past (32bit) and embrace the future (64bit)...

Hardware = HP Pavilion dv7-1070ev These issues came up with the live-dvd (the same ones with Kubuntu 9.10). 1st. I can't shutdown the laptop (I select shutdown but nothing happens). 2nd. Thanks for the help. I always install mintsystem first. I tried it out with every possible way. It must have been something like a bug because the a next build (and the final one, 8.10) some days later (and a new update to mintmenu) everything went fine. I now use felicia 32bit, waiting for the 64bi...

I believe that the number of pcs that don't have a dvd drive (or a bluray one) is already a small one. Even though I would like to have a dvd version, the cd is a much more logical choice (but I have a 24mbps dsl line).

I tried the rc1 (hp pavilion zv5180ea) and it is very impressive indeed. I am waiting though for the x64 version for my main pcs (both have 4 gb of ram and 64bit cpus). For the time being I use a heavily modified Ubuntu 8.10 with mint tools.

I installed today (fresh install on an HP zv5180ea notebook - the only installed os) Ubuntu 8.10 (Daily Build - 22.10.2008). After making all the necessary adjustments (codecs, adding software I usually use like amarok etc) I tried to install the mint utilities downloaded from packages.linuxmint.com...

Great idea, no matter what the size of such an iso image would be. It would be fantastic...

I installed ubuntu hardy heron 8.04 in a 64bit pc.
