Re: Problems getting Compiz to work in new machine
Curses!!
I need to use Win to run my accounting software so I guess a dual boot arrangement is the best option to be able to use all the Linux bells and whistles.
Thanks for that advice.

gtkpod and xmms2
Old Compaq Evo N115 originally running Win XP Pro. Would take 30min+ to start up and run really slowly despite cleanout and defrag etc. In other words was practically useless. Recently dumped Win and installed LM 5 Fluxbox CE and the old dog has been given a new lease of life. I'm trying to educate ...

Re: Linux Mint and VM Ware
I feel a complete twit!!
Everything is working fine now.
For some reason I thought that grub was only used for the dual boot situation. It's a learning curve.
Thanks for your replies guys.

Linux Mint and VM Ware solved
I have installed a copy of Daryna on a separate physical disk as a guest OS in VM Ware. Initially I could not get the live CD to run in VM Ware but got it going eventually by accessing the BIOS and changing the boot order. Daryna installed OK. I elected not to install the bootloader and created: / p...

New installation...Problems with GRUB
I initially had Mint on a cruddy old IDE drive until that drive developed problems. I have re-installed onto a new SATA drive but am having a lot of problems getting GRUB to start. It keeps returning an Error 21 which I believe means that it cannot find the correct drive. The system setup at present...

I already have Mint and Beryl installed and running on one machine but attempts to replicate it on another machine have so far been a failure. Uninstall Tremulous
I want to uninstall Tremulous but can't figure out how to do it. I downloaded the .run file to the desktop and ran cd ~/Desktop sudo sh tremulous-1.1.0-installer.x86.run to install It is installed in /usr/local/games/tremulous I could just delete the folder but I guess that might not be too clever. ...

Thanks for the help. Have edited the grub file and the link to Win XP appears in the bootloader but clicking it causes an Error 13. GRUB issues(Warning NOOB) SOLVED
I have WinXP Pro installed on a SATA drive and originally had Feisty installed on an IDE drive. GRUB bootloader worked fine and I was able to boot up to either OS. I am paranoid about losing the info on the Win drive and disconnected the SATA disk before installing Cassandra over Feisty (I thought I...
