Re: Mintbox Pro

Thanks for the reply Pierre, it was exactly what I was looking for. If the supplied OS have configuration issues with hardware (ie sound) not working 100 percent, then I may just go for the no HD and no OS option, buy a 1T HD from a 3rd party and install Mint 13 myself.

Mintbox Pro

Hi, Does any know if M13 that comes with the Mintbox Pro is a custom version of M13 or is it the standard version that can be downloaded from the website? Reason for asking is because I'm interested in buying the Fit-PC version of the Mintbox Pro and install M13 onto it as Mintbox is not available t...

Re: Linux Mint 11 "Katya" released!

This solution works and is a lot easier than falling back to Mint 10: http://www.webupd8.org/2011/05/how-to-downgrade-to-compiz-086-in.html Thanks for the link, was having problem with Compiz, followed it to the T and its worked beautifully. The one thing I wanted to work and missed terribly was th...

Re: Problem with K3b and Lame using Mint 6 (32 and 64 bit)

You can go into settings and change the settings for 'external encoder' to enable both "Swap Byte Order" and "Write Wave Header". I can't be more specific as I currently don't have K3B or KDE installed. Paul Paul, you are a star!!!!!!! I THANK YOU    :...

Re: how to type chinese in Linuxmint6

Not sure if this will help, but in order to read Chinese, I think you need to enable language support. To do this, you need to go into Menu > Admin > Language Support and add the Chinese package to Mint :)

Problem with K3b and Lame using Mint 6 (32 and 64 bit)

Hi I have Mint 6 32 bit running on my laptop and the 64 bit on the desktop. I have installed K3b and Lame via Synaptic and when I try to rip a CD, I'm getting error message saying command failed. I can't rip using either the laptop or desktop. I get the same error message from both. I have also inst...

Re: Linux Mint 6 x64 released!

Well, I've installed it last night and I have to say this is the first version which didn't work 'out-of-the-box' for me. It didn't recognized the resolution of my LCD screen and I was stuck with 1152 x 864 instead of 1280 x 1024. The Nvidia driver installed fine, it just didn't give me the option o...

Just wondering, if I install the RC 1, when the final version is released, will it be available via updates?

Re: Linux Mint 5 x64 released!

Just installed this today after a bit of a nightmare going from Mint 4.0 > Ubuntu 8.10 > Kubuntu 8.10 > Mandriva 2008.....Couldn't get X to work correctly with either Ubuntu and Kubuntu. I didn't like the look of Mandriva so decided to try Mint 5.0 (64 bit) Everything is working as it should be, ins...

Re: Won't Boot Up Without Input

@ PurplePants Your problem is because of the separate boot partition, message.mint has to be fixed Copy /etc/grub/message.mint to /boot/grub/, edit /boot/grub/menu.lst and change to gfxboot=/grub/message.mint After this you will get a nice graphical grub and no double enter I will read this through...

Re: Won't Boot Up Without Input

Hi Husse Yes, I do have a Boot partition, as well as a separate Root and Home :) Can I just add that before I stumbled onto Mint and deciding to use it on a more permanent basis, I was a Kubuntu (7.04 & 7.10) and Ubuntu user and not experienced this weird boot problem in either of the distro. Th...

Re: Won't Boot Up Without Input

Right, I've just rebooted and this is the message I get from both systems -

graphic file 'etc/grub/message.mint' missing. Press any key to continue....

When a key is pressed, I get taken to the second screen where I'm asked to choose which Kernel to boot from.....

Hope this help :)

Re: Won't Boot Up Without Input

Hi I have the exact same problem as the OP. When booting up the PC, I have to hit 'Enter' twice in order to get to the Mint splash screen. I have had this problem from the start (I've been using Mint 4.0 for about 6 months now) and it's never been a bit problem for me. I have Mint installed on two P...

Problem printing PDF files

Hi I have two printers set up in my network via Ethernet. I have 2 PC installed with Mint and they've been set up to use these printers, but I am having problem getting them to print PDF files. It is not a driver issue because I can print web pages, word doc, excel, email etc etc, that is apart from...
