Re: How to make cursor move slower
Thanks! I had the same problem and your solution worked like a charm (Razer Deathadder Elite mouse).

Re: New version of Private Internet Access - No Applet/Icon in Panel
You can test this by running pia from the menu to open the main window, closing the pia app by clicking the 3 dots at the top of the main window and selecting quit, the run the app again from the menu or the Startup Applications gui and the icon should show. You were right! I put a 5 second delay o...

Re: New version of Private Internet Access - No Applet/Icon in Panel
I had the same issue in my Wife's laptop and IIRC I had to delete an option on the command. I think I removed the '-quiet' (or --quiet) at the end of the command. I can't remember if this was just in the Startup Applications, the menu or both. I have the same issue and removing "--quiet" ...

[SOLVED] Can't move files to trash on my second drive
Hi everyone! I have Mint installed on an SSD but I also have a HDD that is mounted as /hdd in the root folder (I selected that in the Mint installer). The problem is, I can't move anything to trash on my HDD - I can only delete files permanently. The entire drive is one ext4 partition and there is a...

Re: Mint 17.1 no longer sees my Android phone
Sorry, westcliffe01, I didn't notice your answer. Unfortunately, my case is different since neither my phone nor my PC are aware that they're connected. In fact, after more research I came to the conclusion that my phone is straight up messing with me because sometimes it does connect (when it feels...

Re: mintupdate showing non-security level 4,5 updates
I'm confused by this as well. When I uncheck "always show security updates", those level 4 and 5 ones disappear so mintupdate threats them as security updates even though they are not marked as such. Is this explained somewhere and I missed it? And in any case, what to do with those update...

Mint 17.1 no longer sees my Android phone
First of all, I know there's a lot of topics about Android but they all cover a different case than mine. Now, the details: I'm using an LG P970 Optimus Black phone running Android 2.2.2. In previous versions of Mint plugging the phone in via USB worked out-of-the-box (the SD card was automatically ...

I think point 5b should be updated now that dconf-Editor isn't the only way to configure Cinnamon.

Re: Quicker way to launch apps in MGSE
In case anyone's interested, I tried the GNOME 3 + mate-panel method, but it just looks ugly and weird. In the end, I turned off the bottom panel in GNOME 3 and replaced it with Docky - it does exactly what I wanted it to do

Re: Gnome-3 "Shell Extensions"
I can't install shell extensions via Firefox The "about" section tells me to "check to make sure that the 'GNOME Shell Integration' plugin is installed and enabled in your browser preferences" and lo and behold, the plugin isn't there. How do I install it?

Re: Quicker way to launch apps in MGSE
Thats not Linux Mint fault , LM 12 use Gnome 3 and Gnome developer thinking all Gnome user want their desktop very clean  I'm not saying it's anyone's fault. I'm just trying to understand the design choices here. Ironically, I moved to Mint from Ubuntu because I couldn't get used to Unity. Oh ...

Re: Quicker way to launch apps in MGSE
Grazie for your suggestion, but does this mean that there's no way to do this without turning off MGSE? And users who stick with MGSE launch their apps by selecting them from the menu every time?

Quicker way to launch apps in MGSE
First of all, I am fully aware that this question probably has been asked before. I tried searching for it but I can't even think of the proper search terms for this... Anyway, feel free to just throw a bunch of links at me. I'll do my homework :) The thing is, I'm trying to get used to MGSE ...

Re: Mint & Windows 7 on an SSD
I'd suggest you put / on the SSD (so the OS + programs are on the SSD) and you put /home on the HDD (holding you personal files such as documents and music). But if I do that, all the app profiles will be left on the HDD. Any time I fire up Firefox, aMule or any wine app, it'll have to read from th...

Mint & Windows 7 on an SSD
Hi, I'm thinking about building a new gaming PC and I have to decide whether to put an SSD there and how big should the disk be. I've googled a lot about using SSDs with Windows, but the stuff about Linux is usually pretty old and/or doesn't answer my questions. Basically, I would like to have both ...

Re: mintUpdate doesn't see updates but aptitude does?
These might be packages of a level that mintUpdate by default doesn't show or install, because they risk instability/borking your system. Please open mintUpdate, got to Edit -> Preferences, and put a check in the last column (named "Visible?") on the level 4 and level 5 row. Now you will ...

mintUpdate doesn't see updates but aptitude does? [SOLVED]
Hi, Could someone explain this situation? When I start aptitude, it shows 7 security updates and 9 other upgradeable packages, but mintUpdate doesn't see them. I tried waiting several hours but nothing happens (hitting "refresh" obviously doesn't work too). What could be the cause of this?...
