someone did ask me if i tried to install a windows driver for my linksys adapter.

I said no but i remember I did try instaling a windows driver with wine . I forgot that.

Is there a button on the router to set wpa? Or is it done with the software . I don't remember how to get to that so...

Your drivers seem to be the right ones compared to other info I have found even with people who had the same device working. Power management on wireless devices can cause problems. Where in that file do i find drivers I dont' see anything that mentions linksys. The only other thing I can think of ...

trying to use ndiswrapper

I'm using the lenovo noted at the bottom here trying to get a linksys AE2500 network adapter. I have had major troubles trying to get this adapter to work with linux. The one adapter I do have working is an OLD linksys wireless G adapter . I am at the moment trying to get the latest NDISWRAPPER work...
