Help with my sources list.

Postby Xar on Tue May 08, 2012 7:40 pm

For quite a long while I've had mint 9 &10 on my laptop and today switched to a Mint 12 KDE/Win 7 dual boot.
Everything went fine but when I try to update I get two or three errors. Whats strange is that they're not always the same and some are pretty weird.
The most common one though is that said repo is unfound - a 404 error.
And also I get this error from synaptic when I try to refresh.

W: Duplicate sources.list entry http://mint-packages.c3sl.ufpr.br/ lisa/upstream amd64 Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/mint-packages.c3sl.ufpr.br_dists_lisa_upstream_binary-amd64_Packages)
W: Duplicate sources.list entry http://mint-packages.c3sl.ufpr.br/ lisa/upstream i386 Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/mint-packages.c3sl.ufpr.br_dists_lisa_upstream_binary-i386_Packages)

Here's is my complete sources list. Keep in mind I haven't added any repos or taken any away, these are all stock repo's.

deb http://mint-packages.c3sl.ufpr.br/ lisa main upstream import backport romeo
deb http://mint-packages.c3sl.ufpr.br/ lisa upstream
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lisa main restricted universe multiverse

deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lisa-security main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/ lisa partner
deb http://packages.medibuntu.org/ lisa free non-free

# deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu oneiric-getdeb apps
# deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu oneiric-getdeb games
deb http://packages.linuxmint.com/ lisa-kde main upstream import
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric-updates main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric-security main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/ oneiric partner
deb http://packages.medibuntu.org/ oneiric free non-free

# deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu oneiric-getdeb apps
# deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu oneiric-getdeb games

I've been using Mint for a number of years but I've never had reason to mess around with the sources list so while I have added plenty of repos myself I've never opened up my sources list. Given that fact I'm at aa loss to see the problem. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

You have 2 different version repos. You have Lisa and oneiric.

This is why updating is not a good way to go. You should always backup any important files then do a clean install..

Since I have never had to do it I cannot tell you which ones to delete..

This is a clean install. I reformatted my whole harddrive and installed mint 12 kde. These are the repos I got from the dvd.

I just looked at my sources.list and yours is correct. However this could be a problem
Code: Select all
W: Duplicate sources.list entry http://mint-packages.c3sl.ufpr.br/ lisa/upstream amd64 Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/mint-packages.c3sl.ufpr.br_dists_lisa_upstream_binary-amd64_Packages)
W: Duplicate sources.list entry http://mint-packages.c3sl.ufpr.br/ lisa/upstream i386 Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/mint-packages.c3sl.ufpr.br_dists_lisa_upstream_binary-i386_Packages)

Is your system a amd64 or i386?

I just checked my
Code: Select all
/var/lib/apt/lists/

I have neither in mine. Since yours is reporting these two entries as a problem you might try deleting them as root then refresh your packages in your package manager..

Other than that I have no idea what your issue can be..
