kde 4.8.2 not recognizing usb camera

Good afternoon,

I have a Nikon D60 that is not recognized under KDE 4.8.2. I have been told that this is fixed in 4.8.3. I have not found a way to upgrade my KDE to 4.8.3 as the backports are not updated yet. Does anyone know what I might need to do to 4.8.2 to get it to recognize my camera?
