KDE 14 repository issues

I have an odd issue I can not solve.

I have installed Mint 14 and completed all updates and upgrades.

Once this was completed I attempted to look for "Additional Drivers" to install the Nvidia driver. I went to Software Manager and tried to show the Repository list. When I selected Repositories, software manager shut down and restarted. I rebooted the pc and tried again and had the same problem. I then tried to do this via Synaptic and when I tried to enter the repository list nothing happened. Synaptic didn't close and restart, it just sat there.

This is Mint 14 64bit

Has anyone else seen this?

Please open a terminal and run the following command. You will be asked to type your password. Note that no feedback will be given on the terminal as you type your password.

If you get any errors about repositories not being found, run the following command and try the "apt update" again afterwards:

sudo sed -i 's/nadia/quantal/' /etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ubuntu.list

If you still get errors, please share the output here. You can copy text to/from the terminal, see its Edit menu. Kindly also include the output of:

Then you have removed the package mintsystem, as every Linux Mint installation comes with apt. I'd recommend you reinstall the meta package mint-meta-kde, as possibly you have removed other core Linux Mint packages. This will reinstall mintsystem also, and make the apt command available for you.

Your inxi -r output confirms you should be running the following command to fix your issues:

sudo sed -i 's/nadia/quantal/' /etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ubuntu.list

Afterwards, open Update Manager and click the refresh button, or do:

sudo apt-get update

or if you have reinstalled apt you can abbreviate that to:

apt update

Thanks for the information. This seems to have solved the problem. Do you have any idea why this might have happened? I reinstalled 14 twice and it happened on both installations. The first time I was installing over 12, but DID format the \ partition. The second time I reinstalled over the just fresh 14 and formatted the \ partition then too so both were fresh installations.

Any thoughts?

Not sure yet what is the root cause of this, though package upgrades from Ubuntu overwriting some key files in /etc (though the default is to keep files as provided by Linux Mint, some users are selecting to overwrite these files when offered the choice) and possibly the Software Sources program. The development team is working on a replacement for Software Sources for Linux Mint 15.
