Mint 14 KDE Problems with Repositories <Solved>

Postby jamersage on Tue Oct 22, 2013 12:26 pm

I have seen other people with similar problems on this forum and others on the internet, but their solutions haven't worked for me. I figured I would post my specific issues here instead of looking at similar cases. The problem comes when I try to use the update manager. I get the following error messages:

Failed to fetch http://packages.medibuntu.org/dists/quantal/Release.gpg Something wicked happened resolving 'packages.medibuntu.org:http' (-5 - No address associated with hostname)

I tried synaptic and that just gave the same error as the update manager and closed on its own. Help would be greatly appreciated as things (especially my browser) are starting to get significantly out of date and it is affecting my ability to do things. Also, a new phenominon is that software sources will not open in the update manager. Thank you for any help.

Medibuntu repository has been closed, so you have to remove it from your sources: viewtopic.php?f=90&t=147271. See comments on that topic for ways to manually edit the files you need to change. You can run the command `inxi -r` from Konsole to view all your repositories and in which file they are defined, so you know which file to edit (which you must do as root).

Thank you. That was a lot harder than it needed to be since software sources wouldn't open, but not too hard of a fix for a noob such as myself.
