Linux Mint 15 KDE sound control

Hello there,

I have run into a strange problem.
Basically Kmix has seperate sliders for all programs. So if I watch youtube I need to change audio for Chorme, if I watch or listen to files on my laptop I need to change the audio for VLC I guess it might be useful if one tends to be louder etc. My problem is: I can change audio values separately but cannot use my multimedia buttons (FN+...) to change global sound (or the sliders for that matter). I can go from mute to maximum without it affecting any other audio output except for the system notifications. Neither the "Built-in Analog Stereo" nor the "Digital Stereo audio" sliders affect the global sound of all programs in any way.

Anyone has any ideas where to start? I went over from Ubuntu Unity and never had any similar problem there, don't really want to re-install linux again so soon.
