[SOLVED] Software Manager fails to open

Postby andrei90 on Fri Nov 01, 2013 3:06 am

Hello Mint Pro's :)

I have an issue with the Software Manager (mintinstall). I click on it to open, I enter my sudo password and then I get nothing, not even loading... I wait for 10-20 min, still nothing.

I'm running Mint KDE 15 - Platform Version 4.10.5 on an Acer Extensa 5635Z, specs:
  • Intel Pentium Processor T4300 (2.1 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
  • Intel GMA 4500M
  • 3 GB RAM
  • 320 GB HDD

I tried to run it from sudo command in the terminal, and this is the output:
Code: Select all
daniel@Deus-ex-Machina:~ > sudo mintinstall
[sudo] password for daniel:
add_categories took 2.482 ms
build_matched_packages took 0.454 ms

What could be the problem? I also have an issue with auto-updates(won't install), could that be a reason?

LE: I think there's a problem with the repo's, I tried to install FileZilla via terminal and look at the output
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install filezilla
[sudo] password for daniel:

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

as root
Code: Select all
sudo gedit
substitute your favorite text editor for gedit.
Code: Select all
/etc/apt/sources.list

the delete all lines the mention medibuntu.

The medibuntu repositories are dead. :(

then try again.

Thanks for the info, this helped me too. It turns out it was openprinting.org that was keeping my Software Manager from openning.
