Can't find HP Deskjet D2360

I can't setup my printer. It's an HP Deskjet D2360 with a USB connection. I tried setting it up using System Settings>Peripherals>Printers. That goes to a list of HP printers but mine isn't on the list. What do I do now? Thanks for any help.

Try using the driver for the D2300. It works for all of them in that D2300 series. I know the HP D2360 works because my parents have that model hooked up with Mint 4 at their house.

That driver is listed on my screen. Scroll down about half-way through the list. It is listed as "DeskJet D2300." Now, I am looking at this in Mint 5 GNOME, but you should have the same Printer Configuration-type options in KDE. I know this printer works in Mint 4 GNOME for a fact. Have fun!

There must be a newer list of HP printers in Gnome or something. There's just no Deskjet D2300 in my list. I did a full update after I installed the KDE 5 version so everything should be here but it's not.

Is there any other way I can set up this printer?

I am not using KDE right now, so I am not sure. You may have to wait for one of the KDE guys to pick up this thread. At least you know it works (in GNOME), so that may be a consolation.

The last time I was using KDE was in openSUSE. I know I used YaST and CUPS to configure the printers that way, plus there was a program called HPLIP, too. If it works in GNOME, it certainly should work in KDE - especially with Mint. Are you having fun yet? Good luck!

Yes, I am having fun. Just not quite as much as I thought I would. May be I should install Gnome in the KDE version? Ok, Ill wait for one of the KDE guys to see if they know how to deal with the printer.

I got the printer set up. I'm not sure if it was something I installed or not. I found HPLIP Toolbox in System in the main menu. HPLIP Toolbox has, on the first window for setting up a new printer, a button that says Advanced. So, I clicked on the Advanced button. That brings up a window that says Discover all devices. Then I clicked OK. HPLIP Toolbox found my printer. So, it's set up and it works.

May be HPLIP Toolbox was there all along and I didn't see it. May be I installed it. I don't know.
