Hi Lancelot

How did you managed to have this program icons at the bottom of your screen?

Disregard the question - Just now I so that you already mentioned it in your post (need to read carefully next time)

Several steps.
-remove/delete (one-by-one) the icons from the bottom panel
-then remove the bottom panel (it can't be done if icons are on it)
-right click on the desktop, choose : + Add Panel (that's the option I can do now, but it might have been xpanel, I don't remember, exactly) This panel is either configurable -- you can set where to put it -- or it went to the top automatically.
-add any options you want onto top panel: clock, Launch Apps (Mint logo) taskbar, etc
-open Synaptic, search for and add "cairo-dock" (you may have to enable the universe & multiverse repositories)
-run cairo dock.
-this dock is configured very similar to Avant Window Manager, but there are fewer steps. It was the easiest of about 8 different docks I've tried.

EDIT: the new panel that you add is called "xbar". Then you add all the icons and whatever you want to it to make it your new taskbar.
