Problem installing Koffice from the repos...

Postby sccolbert on Sun Apr 12, 2009 1:26 pm

issuing a: sudo apt-get install koffice gives the following error:

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
koffice: Depends: kformula (>= 1:1.6.3-6ubuntu3) but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

then, issuing a sudo apt-get install kformula gives this monster:

This could be a nightmare for someone not paying attention and relying on apt to get the job done properly.

I'm guessing these are just corrupt packages in the ubuntu repo's?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

make sure the KDE4 ppa repo is enabled then try installing/updating kformula/koffice.

Boo,

If that is the same repo that needed to be enabled to upgrade to KDE 4.2.2, then it is enabled.

looks like a really bad dependancy problem in the kformula package.
it looks like it wants to add one package that wants to remove all KDE packages... or are listed as conflicts.
use synaptic to see where it wants to get the package from.

Hi.

Rather than a manual installation, can you not use mintinstall? Koffice is in there.

Might be a less complex solution?

ant.
