WiFi problem

Postby atrahasis on Wed Apr 15, 2009 6:28 am

Hi,

I have a problem with the WiFi detection with the KDE CE release of mint 6.
But with the main edition there was no problem.

I have an Asus Laptop series A4B00KA.

Thanks for the help.

Ok but can you please post some SPECIFIC details about what the problem is, how, when its occurring and any steps that you've taken to try and rectify it???

Any info that you can provide will allow someone to be of more help to you!

Thanx and tgc :)

The problem is that the connection is not found by the network manager.
And I really don't know how to fix this, so I've tried nothing.

Unless I missed it (which I very well could've) the only device I could see was your Ethernet controller:

02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8001 Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 13)
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Device 173c
Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV+ VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B- DisINTx-
Status: Cap+ 66MHz+ UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- INTx-

Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 19
Region 0: Memory at feaf8000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
Region 1: I/O ports at d800 [size=256]
Expansion ROM at feac0000 [disabled] [size=128K]
Capabilities: <access denied>
Kernel driver in use: skge
Kernel modules: skge

What type of wifi device are your trying to use??? PCI-card or adapter?

Can you give us a name and model# of the device?

did you use mint wifi in the main edition to add the wireless driver?
if so look under system for window wireless drivers or use mint wifi if it is there (or add it).
but lspci should have at least listed your wireless card.
