weird (weird weird) mouse problem

Postby playerone on Wed Oct 07, 2009 3:06 am

Hi,

so, this has started happening lately: every time I make a left-click on any item that accepts left clicks (panel, frame, window, desktop, taskbar), the click would somehow get remembered, and further left clicks would work only within this 'item'. I can unlock this with a right mouse click on the same item, only to be gracefully rewarded next one 'free' left click. If the item does not accept right another solution is to close it's window using the keyboard. This has effectively rendered my computer unusable :?

Any ideas? I have tried resetting the KDE desktop to default, tried another mouse, even tried reinstalling Linux mint, but the same problem appears even in the installation process! In LiveCD of other distributions everything is OK.

Using Mint Gloria, KDE 4.2.4.

Any help would be appreciated!

what updates have you applied?
have you changed the ppa repo to the backport repo for KDE 4.2.4 as I put in the announcements?

sounds like a KDE problem.

Hi Boo,

I did not update the repos. The problem started to appear before that, anyway.

Maybe the KDE upgrade would help, but I'm reluctant to do it. Also, forgot to mention, I was using the Gloria RC the whole time, I'll try installing the officiall KDE CE. But I guess nothing has changed in this regard since the RC...

no big changes but the changing or KDE 4.2.4 repos has added some updates not in the previous installed ppa one.

I spilt a soda on my mouse one time and accomplished the same effect!

Had any drinks on the desk lately? :D

hi
Here I have seen the more weird problem. I am new to Linux Mint. It was working fine until I recently updated. The problem is, where ever I click using mouth-pad or mouth nothing happens. To put in another word, mouth click wont work at all. The only thing I could do is to restart the computer. The same problem again and again. Trying to correct ate lots of my time. Please say something before i abandon Mint and migrate to my old "friend" Ubuntu :( .

Well,
the same thing also happens on Kubuntu 9.10 Beta.

Still trying to decide is this good or bad news. :D

So I thought I'll switch to Mint Gnome for a while, but abandoned that idea as well. Mouse clicks in the installer didn't work at all.

Then I got really really desperate and connected the mouse to another USB port. Works like a charm now
