Desktop frustration/folder

Postby rezin on Tue Mar 23, 2010 11:18 am

I've searched and frankly google is worthless if you search for "desktop folder kde4 icon", too many hits. I've looked here as well and I don't think I've seen the answer. My question is this, I've just completed a new install of Mint KDE. I have this box on my desktop called 'desktop folder' and I want to add firefox, thunderbird, and maybe dolphin to this box. How is this done? or a link to how it is done please.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

1. Open 2 windows of the file manager, Dolphin.

2. In one browse to the Desktop folder. In the other browse to this folder: /usr/share/applications/

3. Copy the Firefox and Thunderbird launchers from the applications folder to the Desktop folder.

4. For Dolphin, there is a folder /usr/share/applications/kde4/ where you will find the KDE4 applications... Copy the Dolphin launcher from there.

[edit] I just tried it... you can simply drag and drop from the menu right into the folder view plasmoid (that box).
