I have already mentioned in a couple of threads when I installed LM10 KDE RC that it originally opened with no panel showing. I was able to get A panel by adding a default panel, however I wonder if the "old" panel is hidden somewhere. I did a fresh install but kept my /home on its own partition. Last time I did that I didn't have a problem with the panels.
I was using Lancelot before without issue and actually prefer it. When I added the default panel, it had a KDE icon for launching it. I was able to change it to Lancelot (and had to modify the icon for Mint) but it seems to not be working correctly. When I re-installed some programs like Picasa and X-Chat, they failed to show up in the menu automatically. However if I go into the Widgets and try the Application Launcher Menu, they are listed there. So it seems Lancelot is not updating. I can also search and find them.
Also when I clicked the Reboot button in Lancelot it used to reboot just fine, but now it seems to just hang.
So I wonder if the "missing" panel on install is somehow getting the updates and this one isn't ? I'm not sure how to restore things back to proper working order.
I could install again, but probably won't change the results. Of course I could try a complete install, even wiping /home (after backup) but I don't see how that should change anything.
I thought I'd try the software Manager to see how well that works, and there are no icons for the categories (just ? marks) - none of the categories show icons. Some perhaps something deeper not right here.
Suggestions?
