SOLUTION Software Manager Crash Mint 12 KDE

If you are having the software manager close on you after 3 seconds or so try this:-

Go into application launcher and search for Nepomuk Fille Indexing Controller and just click on it. Then go back into software manager and you should find it will open. I have tried this and it works using mint 12 KDE. Hope this helps someone out

Am having this problem... i.e. Software Manager closing after about 3 seconds. Followed your suggestion (Applications>/System>Nepomuk Fille Indexing Controller) but no joy.
This could be a deal-breaker... need a software manager, no?

Maybe install Muon from synaptic package manager will helps.

I came to a solution by accident . I had a problem with banshee under kde. So someone suggested to change the oxygen gtk theme (settings>application appearance) with something else. That also fixed the software manager problem
