Is A2DP (sound via Bluetooth) possible in Mint 12/KDE 4.8 ?

Postby dist666 on Wed Apr 18, 2012 12:27 pm

Hello, Im a newbie and havent figured this one out yet on my own so I need information and hope this is right section

Now have installed Ubuntu 10.04.4 and get easily bluetooth a2dp working via pairing the headset and then just choosing them as playback device, but not happy with gnome and latest kubuntu 12.04beta2 haves wpa & standby problems so decided to give this one a go and no complains this far in LIVE session.

But I would like to be somewhat certain about this before wiping drive again: is a2dp possible in Mint / KDE as somelike in gnome and if so, then what I am missing ? How to get sound via bluetooth ?

edit: I upgraded KDE to 4.8 (dist-upgrade) and now it doesnt even pair! Tried to manipulate configs too but after several reboots im out of ideas :?

Btw is it normal that when Im tethering (from Nokia N8) I have to separately choose to use mobile networking before connecting ? In kubuntu or ubuntu I dont have to do that.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

You can choose your bluetooth device as output in Mint just like on Ubuntu. It is possible that the setting is elsewhere if you use KDE instead of Gnome.

About the network, if it's fixed in Kubuntu 12.04 then Mint 13 will also have it fixed - Mint 12 is based on Ubuntu 11.10.

Thanks for fast reply, any idea where this setting might be ? I really would like to stand with KDE and this Mint 12 seems to be working nice.

Easy GUI is also mandatory as hardware is for long-term use, primary basic use for my gf.
