Help with application autostart

Postby JamesFox on Sun Sep 20, 2009 4:13 am

Hello, people wise in the way of Xfce!

I have a program that opens every time I login, and it happens to be (ironically) Session and Startup manager. It is not listed under Application Autostart, nor is it found under the Session tab. I'm not sure where else to look to tell Xfce to NOT open it upon login. (I've made sure the box “Save session for future logins” is un-ticked when I logout as well.) Is there a conf file that saves this setting?

Very much appreciated.... James

This is on my list - will come back to you
Oh - check "Configuration Editor" apart from "Sessions and startup" and "Services"
Edit
Some applications appear both in "Sessions and startup" and "Services"
You have to unmark them in both I believe

I have this same problem as well but with the hardware drivers panel. I am using the XFCE edition of mint though, and I'm not sure where the configuration editor is or if there is one in this version. Any ideas?

JamesFox and elliah: xfce has an annoying feature of remembering any last open window if you have ever had the "Save sessions for future logins" button clicked on the exit panel. The only way I know of to get rid of the mess is to exit all windows and open applications, use the exit panel and make sure the "Save sessions for future logins" button is checked. Exit xfce by loging out or restarting your machine. Then next time do the same but uncheck the sessions button when you next exit - and make sure you keep it that way..

I noticed this very same thing with the "Save sessions for future" Log-in button.
Except I use it to my advantage.

I downloaded Conky from the Repros, then made my Conky configuration file and saved, as such.
Opened a Terminal and opened my Conky . . . worked!!

Now, whenever I re-boot or log-in to LM-7 Xfce, they Conky starts up automatically.
I don't have to try and figure out how to add Conky to the Start Up App. Like, I did in Gnome. Now, it just works!

So, this "Save for Future Session" is not such a bad thing.
