drag and drop apps to AWN

Postby bgb1122 on Thu Mar 27, 2008 9:32 pm

I know that the developer of AWN made it specifically for gnome but it does work for XFCE. I decided I would give Mint XFCE CE a whirl for a while to do something different and I like the speed enhancement. It has some things in common with gnome but I noticed that when I run AWN I lose the drag and drop feature to add launchers to it. I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions on going about adding lauchers to the AWN panel with having to manually adding them; finding the icon path and all.

Thanks for any help :D

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Not sure about adding icons/apps to AWN but to add them to your panel..open up appfinder under acessories..
then right click on your panel and add new item and choose Launcher..then just drag and drop items from appfinder to
Launcher..and the icons can be found in /usr/share/pixmap or /usr/share/icons..

Will have to install AWN and play around with it..when I tried DreamLinux it had that AWN installed
by default..and it really slowed my system down..but will try it on mint xfce and see

Edit: well I installed it and could not figure out away to add icons/apps to it either..
and it really laged out my system..I will have no part of that laggy mess on my PC
It really is just for looks I guess..I cant see use for it..the panel works fine for me..
and you can just install a nice theme for looks and it wont slow your system down like that thing does.. :D

SOLVED!

OPEN THUNAR AND NAVIGATE TO /USR/SHARE/APPLICATIONS. THEN JUST DRAG AND DROP ICONS ONTO AWN BAR. (NOTE: I HAVE LATEST XFCE DESKTOP INSTALLED)

DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH AWN SLOWS DOWN MY DESKTOP BUT IT RUNS FASTER THAN GNOME. I KNOW IT IS NOT A NECESSARY PROGRAM BUT I JUST LIKE THE EYECANDY!
