Permanently remove

When i right click on an item there is an option to Permanently remove it, what does it mean? does it overwite the file a few times for a secure delete or is it really just to bypass the recycle bin?.

Hello, Mintman112.

Assuming that you are talking about right-clicking an object in Nautlus and selecting to "permanently delete it", it means that the recycle bin will be bypassed and the object deleted directly without any option to restore it from the recycle bin.

Kind regards,
Karl

If you go to Thunar > Edit > Configure Custom Actions and double click on Premanently Remove you will see that the command is:
mint-xfce-delete %F

If you go to /usr/bin/mint-xfce-delete you will eventually see that the following command is being run:
rm -rf

Which as I recall roughly translates to force remove the folder, all of it's content's, and the horse it rode in on - I'm paraphrasing here
