My PC is a 1.8 pentium with 512 of ram..I have used mint xfce beta 8 and xubuntu 7.10 and now using xubuntu 8.04 ..
I was happy with the proformance of all 3..tho 8.04 does use a bit more ram than 7.10 did..with the same services disabled..
8.04 is using about 115 mb on boot up..and 7.10 was using 95 mb...
From what I understand you will not be able to use upgrade manager to upgrade from beta 8..I prefer not to use beta editions long term..
thats why im using Xubuntu atm..
But if your new to linux you may find setting up xubuntu a pain..I know I did the first time I tried it..just a simple little thing like playing a mp3 song
can turn into a nightmare for someone brand new to linux
So Mint all the way if your new..
