Mint doesn't get IP from green nic(IpCop) like windows

Hello Fellows,

I am running IpCop firewall 2.0.3 on a computer all by itself.

All windows machines are able to get IPs if I connect their cat5 directly to the green nic (IpCop) without using a switch.

My Linux Mint 14 (Xfce) won't obtain an IP if I connect the cat5 directly to the green nic(Ipcop), but it gets its IP when connect it to a switch that is connected to the green nic.

I was just wondering if this is a normal behavior.
