When it found updates and attempted to download/install, it just failed saying something about man.db?

"It" failed and said "something".

Given those symptoms, you might have a problem of some sort with "it".

Try
$ sudo synaptic
rather than "it"; hit reload (upper-left), choose select by "Status" (lower-left), look in "Install(Upgradable)" (upper-left).
Select the ones you want to upgrade and Rt-click->Upgrade. Then "Apply" (top).

This is what it said after updates...

Example, when I installed libcurl3 and it does completed the installation, but left an error at the end eventhough it is working.

Code: Select all
neo@neo-Aspire-8930 ~ $ sudo apt-get install libcurl3

I noticed that debconf folder was missing in /var/cache/ so I used mkdir to created it.

I updated and upgraded the packages.

Looks okay now.
