xfcemint-desktop

Postby ossified65. on Mon Sep 29, 2008 3:31 pm

Does this exist as a .deb? If so could it be installed in Gnome to make a xfce session with most of the Mint XFCE stuff intact? I have installed the xfce4 desktop from synaptic onto the new 64 bit community release and love it. But I'm sure I am missing some mintyness, so to speak.. Let me say that if the user interface of the 64 bit seemed snappy with Gnome, it is stupidly responsive in xfce. Merlwiz has ruined me and I prefer xfce to Gnome..

-thanks!

Yes it's in the download on this page:

You should remove any packages that doesn't say all.

Hi Mr, Merlwiz,
If I have taken the new 64 bit edition and installed xfce4 from synaptic and then I try to add the xfcemint-desktop files, are they likely to work or are they only for i386?

Well most of them say i386 which is 32bit.
I guess it won't let you install those so you won't be able to install xfcemint-desktop.
I can't make 64bit packages since I don't have the 64bit computer to do it on.

Bummer, I wish I had an extra 64 bit system to loan you  , but I just got this one (with grant money). The stock xfce stuff works great, so i guess I'll have to live with that. Thanks though!

Looks like the python apps can be used on the 64bit system.
I'll rebuild the packages to use all instead of i386.
This will at least give you the mint apps.

That would be awesome, I really appreciate it. You'll post them when done to let me know? And today is my birthday, (34 years old), how nice! I know it might seem like an odd combination, but i think people might really like the xfce/64bit combo.

I have two installable test partitions on my amd64 laptop. I'm game for testing this combo.
