Compiz Crash on Checking for texture_from_pixmap

Postby biogenic on Mon Sep 29, 2008 10:45 pm

I hit compiz in terminal, it goes to
"Checking for texture_from_pixmap: not present"
and my computer locks up. The only way out is tough-love reset.

I've left it on overnight, it locks up good.

It freezes when I hit Enable/Disable as well... I assume for the same reason.

I can't find anyone else having a lockup at the same place.

I'm running Linux Mint XFCE Elyssa with an Nvidia GeForce 5600 and 256MB of RAM. 3d effects enabled with latest drivers and everything. What the hell is going on!?

My computer sorta sucks (which is why I want to use Linux Mint)... hopefully that isn't the problem.

I'm at work (hehehe), so I can't see the terminal actions right now... but even if I could my computer would lock up so it'd be hard to post. From what I remember, XGL is not found... I don't believe anything else is either (before texture_from_pixmap of course).

I'm going up the wall here!

Thanks!

Nvidia GeForce 5600 and 256MB of RAM

Is that RAM for the GeForce or what you have "in general"?
If the latter turn off Compiz - it's choking your box....

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
