Write Japanese in English locale?

Postby momotaro on Sat Oct 25, 2008 5:17 am

I want to write Jp text when I am in English environment, I did this once in CentOS.
I can do it in Jp environment fine with Mint XFCE but I don't want to login and out to type a few lines of text.
Is there a way I can trigger ANTHY to pop up in En environment?

Just an explanation. The information on this link works for any Mint Edition but there's a "Note for Xubuntu" that you can't bypass for XFCE CE. So, remember to install scim-bridge-client-gtk as it says or you won't be able to use scim on XFCE. It works for me. Also, some programs like amsn need a bit more to get scim input working on them.

You might want to have a look at http://dergrosseverraeter.blogspot.com/ ... -scim.html

Just do
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install language-support-input-ja language-support-fonts-ja

instead of
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install language-support-input-zh language-support-fonts-zh

It's essentially just a copy of the Ubuntu wiki, but anyway, it works!
