Replace Deluge Torrent in Gloria XFCE CE

Postby merlwiz79 on Tue Feb 24, 2009 4:17 pm

I like Deluge but it's getting bigger.
I'm not sure if this will be needed if I can cut down the size to fit it in.
It's just in case I need the room, I have options.

Transmission is good. I actually use Ktorrent :? myself so I am impartial to this choice.

I use kTorrent as well. Small, feature rich, and stable.

Transmission gets my vote.

For the Xfce version of Mint, I believe Transmission would be the best option to replace Deluge. I have had excellent service with Transmission in the GNOME version of Mint.

I have used KTorrent previously, as well, so I have positive opinions of it in KDE systems. If KTorrent was included, would that not require some Qt/KDE libraries to be added, as well? If so, that might negate any space savings by switching to KTorrent.

I am not sure, offhand, what ktorrent would pull in with itself, but it is a moot point. Even though I use it, along with K3b and ksnapshot, I do NOT feel it is right to use these packages in an Xfce release. I would like the iso to stay as Xfce-centric, or at least neutral, as possible. What I do with the iso on my own system is another matter, but I sure dont want an Xfce release shock full of Gnome or KDE stuff, no matter how good the apps are. Just a matter of principle. Sorry I did not make that clear in my above post, I thought it was implied.
