is flash installed?

Postby Dwood on Thu Mar 19, 2009 3:01 pm

Hello

I have just done a clean install of Mintxfce Felicia and Flash does not appear to be installed in firefox.

When I go to youtube or any other site requiring flash there is nothing, just a message saying 'you need to have javascript on or install the latest version of flash'

I was under the impression that flash was already installed in Linuxmint - in fact it seemed to work on the live cd but not now that I have installed it to the hard drive.

Is there any reason for this?

If I have no flash at the moment what is the most reliable way of installing it?

Thanks for your help
David

It's there for me in both Firefox and then also Opera when I added Opera from the repositories.

Re-installed from synaptic as suggested and all is working now.

Thanks very much.

Flash works fine in firefox but in opera the streaming doesn't work when I try streamiming from wwiTV.com sites. These are two felicia boxes that had opera and vlc installed from software portal. Everything else works fine-a fine system!
Can anyone tell me the steps to follow so I can use opera as my main browser? Thanks

To make opera your main browser go to xfce 4 mintconfig under the main menu.
Under 'Administration' there is an option to set XFCE Preferred Applications.

you can choose the default browser from there.

My flash is very buggy in FF. Whenever i have something like a youtube video up it will radomly just stop and leaves a grey box, this happens with more than just youtube video, but with almost all flash it will sometimes happen.
