xfce-power-manager vs gnome-power-manager

Postby titto on Thu Oct 01, 2009 4:49 pm

Just to know: why is Mint 7 XFCE still shipped with the Gnome package while XFCE power manager is available since version 4.6 of XFCE?

According to me it would make much more sense using XFCE power manager on Mint XFCE Edition!

I've searched, but till now I haven't found any answer to my question.

Thanks,
Gabriele

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I can't say for sure but there may be issues with xfce-power-manager that made us keep gnome-power-manager - I don't even know if this is true :)
We have quite bit of gnome apps in our XFCE edition to get functionality we otherwise would not get
What I can say is that this is tested so we get a good performance

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it

Thank you for your answer. I thought it was something like that, so I'll remain with the Gnome one until the Mint Team will think the XFCE one will be better.

BTW: yesterday I've given a try to Xubuntu 9.10 Beta and there the power manager was the XFCE one. I guess it will be the same for the Mint version when the moment will come.
