Panel color should be gray

Postby tinny on Wed Dec 12, 2007 2:07 pm

I'm getting a early start on this issue. I think the Panel color should be gray. The dark green/black color assumes a dark background, which I probably will never choose. It's one thing to have a dark Panel that's easy on the eyes, but it's quite another when Panel is so dark as to be illegible. Moreover, a dark Panel looks incongruously ugly on a lighter background. The standard edition of Mint Daryna (Gnome) has a gray background, and I think Xfce should too. If you get eye strain from looking at a computer screen, maybe you could dim the monitor, or turn off your computer occasionally and get some rest.

I agree with you...

On final release, I will change it for sure...

This is weird a some people seem to have problems with the panel while others love it.
I actually like the default but I have made one that is lighter green and a blue one.
I could make another with a grey panel if you like, but I wouldn't know what to name it.
Probably MurrinaGreen-GreyPanel or something similar.

That it is nice :)

You can make a pool to know what is the comnunity favorite to be de default, and than the users can even choose them after install.

Keep going ;)

I'm glad there is already talk of changing the theme for the final release, because the first thing that struck me using the beta was how much I hated the default theme. The dark green glossy look is just nasty.

I happen to think that Xubuntu is the prettiest *buntu by far, so we have a lot to live up with our version. It needs to be at least as good. In fact, please ensure the Xubuntu theme is available amongst the additional themes.
