Not solved.

" " I am having an issue with Chrome and Chromium when running under Xfce Debian 64bit on my Desktop. Mostly, but not always, the program loads but it cannot load any web pages. Sometimes it works just fine (after re-run. Gmail breaks it more often)

This solution doesnt work for me. I even had some problems with update because of it (i think)

Yes. Here the problem occurs after booting the PC (Xfce 32 bit Mint Isadora).
When I stop Chromium and restart it the problem is over.
Then I see the (two-fold)task 2 times in the taskmanager.
'Preferences in Chromium does also not work properly'. I suspect this has also to do with 'connection'.

I don't know what it is (maybe some 'phone home' thing), I don't know how to fix it.

Use SRWARE Iron instead based on Chromium Browser & does not "phone home"

I have found a workaround.
Chrome/Chromium has the option in preferences of saving and at start loading tabs.
I never used it and didn't know it wórks in contrast of then the other options.

I use it now and make an own homepage on the first tab. Pin it and ready.
Maybe better then a fixed homepage.
It is still not a 100%, because when there are for some reason no tabs, it is chaos.
So read on, I have a solution below http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 82#p476582

Thanks and I look also at Iron.

I tried Iron itoffshore. The .deb-file. It is indeed almost a copy of Chrome/Chromium.

But the full list of extensions is not present. This one in Iron is a slim alternative.
(Extensions are the reason I still use Firefox too for other things then what I use Chrome for.
They are good in add-ons (extensions).)
Only in the full Chrome extensions-list I can find what I need (and also thát list is rather
small for what I prefer).
I'm rather spoiled, I think. But it has to do with my work here.

When there would not be this need I could use Iron immediatly. Thanks again for the tip.
I'll keep it in mind and maybe I'll use it later for something very handy.

For now Chrome will do with the workaround and the home-phone I accept.
It is way better then Epiphany, Midori etc. and for now the best fast second browser in my situation.

For some days I went back to the full tabbed-browsing of Firefox 3.6. (Xfce Isadora doesn't update to 4 or 5,
but that is not so bad, because some FF add-ons I need don't work in FF 5 yet en version 4 had bugs).
Tabbed browsing is also very, very fast, I always used it, so no problems there, but sometime I have a
lot of tabs open, so that's the reason for experimenting a second tabbed browser with extensions.

Chrome still doesn't start after boot always, which is rather frustrating. I did experiment at least for a week
now to let it run 100% normal. But no way. It works on LMDE, Mint Gnome and Mint Lxde, Ubuntu and
PCLOS as far as I've seen but I have other trouble with it for instance on WattOS R4.
Chrome is a fast tab-browser with a lot of extensions, so that is nice, but for the rest I sort of hate the thing for now.

Great to hear iokasa! :D

I now use Mint 12 with mostly MATE and Chrome stable. No problems with Chrome this time.
(I still have Xfce on a partition.)
