Firewall on Fluxbox

Dear friends

Is there a firewall pre-installed on the Fluxbox package? The reason I ask is that I did try to install one from Mint Install, but although it claimed to have installed successfully, i cannot now find it? This was Guidedog, & I had the same experience with a different firewall installed from MintInstall.

Grateful for any advice

There is a general misconception about firewalls in Linux
IPtables is included in the kernel with ports locked from the outside since long
This means there is no need to do anything in most cases
The so called firewalls you can install are tools to configure iptables (so they don't have to and should not run constantly)
The need to use such a tool arises if you have applications with special needs or if you want to set stealth as standard (a good idea if your computer is connected directly to the internet, not via a modem of any kind) or other changes.
I have not found much info on Guidedog but I guess it's a cli application so you start it from the terminal

If you are looking for something with a GUI you could check out Firestarter - I played around with it a couple of years back when I first moved over from Windows to Linux and was looking for a replacement for all my Linux apps (firewall and AV included). But like Husse says, you probably don't need it.
