Aliases

I am running the RC of M8 Fluxbox CE. Is there a way to setup aliases? This is my first experience with fluxbox, so I am unsure if this is able to be done.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Hi,

simply edit the file ~/.bashrc and add any aliases you want in there. An example would be:

Code: Select all
alias aptupg="sudo apt-get update ; sudo apt-get upgrade"

I did look in the .bashrc file, however it has the same contents as /etc/bash.bashrc

I just thought I try adding the alias line at the end of the file. It worked.

~/.bashrc creates the aliases for the user only... while /etc/bash.bashrc creates system-wide aliases.
