Dropbox does not recognize Linux Mint Dropbox

I log in to dropbox with two computers I have installed Linux Mint dropbox on but it says I do not have any computers with dropbox installed (and I am not installing nautilus to use it)

I had trouble with Mint Dropbox in KDE so I uninstalled it (leaving config files in app uninstall choices) and
installed the "official" version. Works fine now.

But as I understand it the official version is made for Nautilus which I do not have (and will not)

I don't have Nautilus either, but Dropbox works. I just didn't mark Mint Dropbox for Complete
Removal in Synaptic. Worked for me. YMMV.
