Fluxbox running in VirtualBox having flash issues (SOLVED)

this isn't terribly important I suppose but I just installed Linux Mint 9 fluxbox as a guest in virtualbox 3.2.8 running on a mac host. for some reason, if you watch anything that runs in adobe flash player for any length of time it crashes the guest. I have many other ubuntu based and non-ubuntu Linux guests, so I assume it has something to do with Fluxbox. There was a warning about flashplayer and fluxbox but seems to have disappeared with the stable release.
