The current version is a LTS = Long Time Support based on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, so as I understand it there wont be a new version until the LTS runs out of date.

I would disagree with that, as there is a new release of LXDE in the works. Another DE/WM that has a smaller user base but larger than Fluxbox.
Since Kendall does both of them he is busy.

Mint Fluxbox is rebasing on Debian so there won't technically be a "Mint 10 Fluxbox" but rather the next version will be a rolling release. I have a few things to get done before I do any heavy diving into it, but I have spun up an initial .iso that I can build off of.

There are different Mint Developers that work on and Maintain each of the various Desktop Environments for LinuxMint.
Not always the same people (Devs), although the final release is tested and approved by Clem.

Will some of this work: viewtopic.php?f=142&t=54206 be included in that version?

Ikey is rewriting the menu system in Python for this one, so yes, there will be improvements. :)

Sounds like some fun new stuff to learn.
So how will this debian based release work in practical terms - this is something new to me.
e.g. when I want to add a repository which version will I choose?
e.g. for rednotebook I add something like this to my sources.list:
deb https://robin.powdarrmonkey.net/ubuntu lucid/

What would replace the "lucid/" ? Sorry for what is probably such a dumb question but I have been brought up with Ubuntu-Mint ;-)
(and I know ubuntu is based on debian but this has been masked from me pretty much).
Cheers,
andE

deb https://robin.powdarmonkey.net/ lenny/

There is not yet a Debian Squeeze version, the Lenny might work for you.
