VPN-connection

Hi all,

I am using a linux mint with Fluxbox...
Everything turned out really fine and i'm very enthousiastic regarding the whole linux-thing.

I used to have OpenVPN on my Windows7 machine and all i had to do was unzip the downloaded package (P12 file, I believe, and an ovpn file) in a folder of OpenVPN and sjabang... it worked.
Mint is a different case. I downloaded the ovpn file and p12 file, ran some commands on them and created some pem files...
After that i installed network-manager and configured the VPN-connection with the pem files previously created.
It connects (at least it says so...) but i can't ping a computer in the remote network nor can i open a webpage?

In short: When i connect the VPN to my works network i can't do anything network related. Any ideas?
