Slight problem..... I erase my .xconfig... HELP!..... Sorted

Postby Matchieu on Mon Jan 28, 2008 5:35 pm

Yea, I know, it's a stupid thing to do but I wanted to remove the music at the beggining and I was on the phone at the time so not paying to much attention at what I was doing........
So if someone could give me the copy of their .xconfig it would be FANTASTIC...... :-)

(very easy to find, you go to your home folder, press control+H... to see the hidden files.... and then open .xconfig, make a copy and post it in your reply)

Superb distrib by the way, it's fast, it's nice and I'm pleased with it.....

You can regenerate your xorg.conf file with the following command:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

This will ask you a few questions (through ASCII commandline interface) and generate a fresh new file. Of course if you had any special drivers or graphics settings enabled, these will not be restored.

Thanks for that BlahBlahX but it doesn't solve the problem as for some reason when it start it can't load some Gnome stuff and therefore I can't have any desktop...... Very annoying thing to be honest. But I must have erased something I shouldn't while trying to get rid of the music at the start of the session......

But once again, thanks for your help :-)
