very eager to use Bianca, I downloaded it from the german site this am
download was OK as well as buring it with Nero (win version)
when booting on it, I get teh ISOLINUX debian... message and after a disk error

I tried on 2 CD readers, same error, plus burning another CD to no avail

are there known issues?

is another site available to download it?

my download of Bianca was screwed.
but luckily i had the beta iso. so am installing that for now. [cause there's not much bandwidth left for me this month ]

i read the wiki. but are there any known issues on upgrading from the beta to stable? like Brenda [:)] who was getting "Bea" on startup?

me gonna do a fresh installation of Bianca beta 014...

Just finished to install Bianca
as before, flawless and perfect: congratulations to all the developers

just 2 quick questions:

1-I cannot see how to modify the volume. Sound is OK but too loud. Which program do I have to use? I'm refering to the beeps

2-I have an ATI card and 3D is not implemented. Can I use the same principle as the one I used successfuly for Ubuntu edgy-eft?

1) Get rid of system beeps: Go to system->preferences->sound->system beep tab, and uncheck the box that says "enable system beep". (If you're using mint menu then it's just preferences->etc.)

2) Video card config: Any video card configuration that you used on edgy should also work in mint.

now, for ATI, I used a method which is working fine on Ubuntu dapper and edgy but if I try to create teh deb package, it says cannot find config file
I do
sudo bash ati-driver*.run --buildpkg Ubuntu/edgy

strange is I did this 3 days ago on edgy and it worked OK

There is a cool utility for downloading and installing ATI and Nvidia drivers included in Mint. It is called Envy. There are a couple of threads about in the forum, but the short version is you run envy from a terminal as root and it will take care of setting up your video for you. I used it on an Nvidia machine last night and it worked perfectly!

Ah yes I forgot about envy...give that a try first, as it works for most people. I don't have an ATI card, but perhaps you're missing a package for the method you used on edgy. I know there are certain packages that need to be present to create debs (sorry I don't know exactly what they all are). They could have very well removed some packages in Mint to fit in other stuff, and I guess you'd have to find out what exactly is missing. Hopefully envy works for you though.

To run envy first press <Ctrl><Alt>F1, and then login to your account. Type in the command "envy" (w/o quotes) and enter your password. Follow the on-screen directions, and hopefully everything works out.

Hello everybody,
I don't see why anybody may have a problem with downloading or installing Bianca stable release.
Try burning your Iso at a slow speed, like 8KBbps, DAO mode in K3b.

I installed it to my hard disc in Greek Everything runs like a clock.

Thanks for teh help. I was in fact using an ATI install procedure which proved successful on Ubuntu but not on Mint. Anyway, I searched for a different way, and found it. Now I have ATI acceleration.
All OK now

Regarding Mint, I cannot have the icons of the programs I use most on the desktop. Usually, ctrl clicking was enough to copy them onto the desktop. Is there a way to do this with Bianca?

What I also have as issue is with icons in the "favorites". They do not launch the program when I click on them.

Finally got it and had time to install it.

at first g parted messed up my partitions but i straightened it out.

i am still however having the same problem as before. as soon as bianca started for the first time it was amazing, fast, and i just plain liked it. more importantly, my internet worked.

but once again, directly after updating it, no more wireless.

this is the only problem keeping me from using mint as my main operating system. if i cant get it working today, and maybe tomorrow im switching back to ubuntu. ill just download mintmenu, and mint disk lol..

otherwise, keep up the good work! i really liked the new wallpapers, and mintmenu seemed alot smoother. i didnt like that mintdisk wouldnt work when i ran it live.

I don't think you can add programs to the panel or desktop using Mint Menu. What you can do is right-click on the panel, choose add to panel, select main menu, and then using the main menu you can right-click on any application and create a launcher on your panel or desktop. When you're done you can right-click on the main menu and remove it from the panel.

I don't really use the favorites function...so maybe clem or someone else can help you out with that.

i have Bea installed on my computer , the language spanish , i changed to english to make the upgrade.both ways ; from the start up and the configuration program. then i enter the code in the root terminal , line by line and all was working great. at the end i restarted x window with ctrl + alt + return , reboot, and nothing changed...
What am i doing wrong.
