New sources.list for Elyssa

Here's a dangerous question: instead of burning an Elyssa Beta CD and upgrading my Darnya installation from the CD, can I swap my existing sources.list file with the new one and upgrade like so?

apt-get dist-upgrade

I've done this with other distros, and while it can be a little bit messy, it's technically possible. I just wanted a feel for Best Practices...

extraspecialbitter, you don't want to do that. Mint uses the Ubuntu repositories, so you won't get Elyssa so much as you will get Hardy. Actually you would get an odd combination of both of them I believe, and most likely would have issues with some things being broken.

Thank you both for your replies. I have erred on the side of caution and have installed a fresh copy of Elyssa to a spare partition.

This is not to say you can't have Hardy repos in Daryna - as long as you don't do a dist-upgrade and install applications with caution and more than a bit of knowledge.... (meaning knowing if the app you install is compatible or not) and disable the Hardy repos as soon as you don't use them
