Good news.

Added the ppa but I cannot update Cinnamon to 2.0.
Any pointers?

It's because the biuld-in repos have higher priority than these added ppas, you can solve this with @zerozero solution posted at http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=208&t=121425p672143

I've installed it in Linux Mint 13 it doesn't work.
It crash at the start, display a message saying it crashed and asking to relaunch Cinamoon. If i click NO i get MATE (i think it's mate).

Exact same problem here, with the odd situation that it worked before until I changed my kernel. But now it has these issues with the old kernel, too.
Would this be worth the effort to file a bug report?

Just to give you a heads up, we're in the process of backporting MATE and Cinnamon at the moment, our main target being Linux Mint 13. We'll make announcements as soon as this is ready.
