Linux Mint 6 x64 released!

After reading many favourable reviews, I decide to give it a try. I was hooked after 5 minutes!

I'd been using Ubuntu before, and as good as it was, it cannot compare....not by miles!

With Ubuntu, the first thing I needed to do was start installing various things - codecs, restricted extras, surprise additions, but Mint? Forget it! Everything I needed, and also stuff I forgot that I needed was already there.

I tried everything_ dvd, cd, flash, java, and nothing failed.

Say hello to another devotee! I'm recommending everyone I know!

Hey guys, great release so far, I'm having just one issue. Gnome-do has stopped working properly for me since they released update 0.8. I went over to their irc channel and as soon as I described my problem they guessed I was running mint x64. They said some people have been complaining of the same issue and they are all running mint 64, and nobody else has this problem. Apparently whoever packaged it messed something up..any ideas?

Everytime I try to download it the thing cuts off somewhere in the middle. The file is 600 some odd megs, the first time I tried to download I got to 200 before it stopped, second I got to 100. And I don't mean it stopped like the whole thing canceled, it just stopped like it actualy thought the download was done eachtime, it was weird. Can I get some help?

First of all, which OS and which browser are you using?

I have had that happen a few times previously with a regular download from HEAnet. I switched to the University of Crete and got a full download. I have no idea why, but it worked.

That being said, I have never gotten a bad download using the official torrent. That is all I have used lately for my downloads. I use Transmission, which comes by default in Mint. Good luck.

I recently got a new laptop (with vista64 ), and the first thing I did when I got home was throw the 32bit version of mint 6 on it. Now I've upgraded to the 64 bit version of mint and couldn't be happier. Since then I've burned cd's for a few of my friends (they all love it too) and am still seeding the torrent. Great work guys!

installed and its run perfectly with amd turion64x2,1 gb memory(ddr2 dual channel) but after ugrade to 4gb it fail to load x,pls help.

installed 64 bit Mint it today - very impressed; sharp, quick and snappy.

One thing - I tried to install Mint a few days ago after installing drivers via Ndiswrapper. When I then tried to install Mint, it wouldn't recognise my HDD, nor the partitions on it. I got a new wireless card today, which worked out of the box and Mint installed perfectly.

Just a possible issue for you to be aware of with ndiswrapper and 64bit Mint.

Works without a hitch on my Sony Vaio VGN-NS 110E.

Everything works. Haven't tested the VGA out, but I don't doubt it'll work.

I'm trying to move to 6 x64, but can't get it stable. I loaded it last night, and it ran fine, so I loaded some extras, which seemed to be fine until I shut it down for the evening. When I turned it back on this morning, I found the problem - it'll load, and will run one time, then when I try to turn it back on it doesn't run again. Specifically, I get the following:

Haven't figured the webcam out yet - but the solution to the Gnome refusing to load is in "Graphics cards and Monitors", "NIVIDIA with SLI" post by Abidaba on Saturday, Nov 15, 2008. Clear concise instructions that solved the problem in minutes without delay.

I installed Mint 6 64 bit about a week ago and have been testing it out, I installed virtualbox from the virtualbox website and mintinstall handled the install, no problems, VERY NICE!!!!! the shares and networking are first class. My only complaint is the need to remount the drives in my computer when i reboot and to remount the shares. I have been a Linspire user for years now I have weaned my self off Windows completely since 05 (linspire5.0). Xandros bought Linspire and is doing nothing with the Spires as far as anyone can tell. Mint 6 is the first linux OS that is a replacement for Linspire 6, the only thing lacking is the auto mount feature that Linspire had. Everytime you would boot Linspire would auto mount the hard drives and shares, in Mint i open the home and click on the files and they mount, not bad just not auto, when your booting 4 computers ( as each morning at the office) gets a bit annoying sometimes, when folks are watching you run around the office....lol . Looks like I am going to be a MInt linux user, Thank you for a fine OS

you can try iommu=noaperture at boot sections add when choosing kernel. i think this works for the IOMMU option.
