Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 Bug Thread
Two minor bugs
The black usplash is not quite black - I think it's been reported above
Where does the "Welcome Screen" go when you opt for it not to be shown on boot? I can't fine a menu item - but I have not checked right click options
Edit
three minor
When I click shutdown Gloria beeps a long aria

Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 Bug Thread
1)I have a problem with gufw.I've checked the option to start it in automatic on every boot but gufw ask me everytime for my pass. Then I edit the sudoers file and put ''myusername ALL=NOPASSWD:/usr/share/gufw/gufw.py'' and restart. No pass but the gufw icon disapear from the gnome-panel
2)I confirm the black in the black rectangular when system booting
3)Some apt-get commands could break your system (apt-get autoremove want to remove over 300 MB) and even if I try to install some software from added external repos.
But......The release is awesome!Excelent work guys

Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 Bug Thread
sagar, make sure you're using the very latest version. I was under the impression this was a known bug in felicia that was fixed in gloria.
Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 Bug Thread
Hello there, first post and all that, love Mint!
Here's some minor things I've noticed:
-I have a Sony Ericsson G900 with M2 card inside, and when I connect with USB it pops up with the default media action window except there's nothing in the dropdown menu to select, in Felicia it used to open the card in nautilus.
The card mounts ok but sometimes it crashes my phone somehow.
-When I lock the screen the Mint Dew wallpaper is always there instead of whatever one I select, is that a bug?
Also, how do I turn off the quotes in Terminal? :p
Thanks.

Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 Bug Thread
To turn off the quotes aka fortunes in terminal
gksu gedit /etc/bash.bashrc
comment out ( ie put a # in front of ) the last line that refers to
/usr/bin/mint-fortune

Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 Bug Thread
When you open your "Trash", "Empty Trash" button is disabled when it's empty but
if you add "Trash" to the panel, you can always select "Empty Trash" in the context menu even when it's empty.
Not a real issue IMO but if we want to make Linux Mint perfect

Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 Bug Thread
If you could leave it as it was in Gloria it'd be cool (like the 1st time you open mintInstall it downloads all the screenshots once). I personally liked it that wayOld Marcus wrote:I've also noticed that mintInstall hangs for a reasonable amount of time while downloading the screenshot. Perhaps make it like synaptic, where you only download the screenshot if you want to?

Don't you mean Felicia?willxtreme wrote: If you could leave it as it was in Gloria it'd be cool (like the 1st time you open mintInstall it downloads all the screenshots once). I personally liked it that way
I personally like it how it is now though, because it really doesn't take that long to download a screen shot. Personal opinion though.
Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 Bug Thread
I read other posts writing about a problem with the 180 NVidia driver. I too have a problem with the 180 Nvidia driver when I am enabling the compiz effects on the desktop preferences. The monitor starts not responding and scrables its self like a crossword puzzle. The model of my NVidia graphics card is GF 8200M-G. Should I change the driver?
Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 Bug Thread
1. I can't find .mintinstall folder in .linuxmint.
2. Linux Mint should have scim-bridge-client-gtk by default.
3. Linux Mint should fix PPPoE connection problem.
4. I added
& when I update it removes my OpenOffice.org whole package. Then I had to reinstall it.
5. Computer Janitor recommends useful programs to clean up! A screenshot is given below.
6. When I run
in terminal then it shows the following message.
7. Pidgin 2.5.5 crashed several times. Cross button [x] & e-mail notification window/message box aren't working.
8. Bubble notification should appear on the right bottom.
9. I don't like the boot screen. Linux Mint 7 should have a gorgeous one like Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope.
10. I also don't like graphical GRUB menu. Linux Mint 7 should have a new one.

Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 Bug Thread
I had updates available in "MintUpdate" but the system tray icon had the wrong icon:
it showed the "System up-to-date" icon instead of the "Updates available" icon.
The icon changed when I opened MintUpdate manually.
My "Auto-Refresh" is set to 5 minutes by default.

Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 Bug Thread
I invoked nautilus-actions-config in the terminal (as outlined at http://www.ubuntu-unleashed.com/2008/01 ... buntu.html ) and made an entry. After I rebooted, however, I was unable to access nautilus and my desktop folders disappeared. Deleting the new entry via nautilus-actions-config & rebooting restored access to nautilus (and my desktop folders).
Otherwise Linux Mint 7 RC1 looks real good here.

DO NOT RUN APT-GET AUTOREMOVE!!
If you drop to the CONSOLE and type SUDO APT-GET AUTOREMOVE this will erase ALL the Mint GUI files.
I did that twice to test it and it happens all the time, I installed Mint, applied all patches/updates, decided to "clear" some space, and it killed my Mint

Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 Bug Thread
I am using the driver that Mint recommends. I will try what you wrote in your post, and I will come back to you.

Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 Bug Thread
Ran live cd on Dell Inspiron 170L Pentium 4 2.8 , 1GB ram, Integarted Intel Graphics and booted quickly on default with no problems at all. Everything works. Installed to harddrive and the system will only boot( very quickly) in recovery mode for seemingly no reason. Also in the control panel the shared files icon is missing.
Otherwise what a great improvement to Mint 6. Good job everyone.
Edited: Decided to try to load the live cd in compatability mode ( as required in 6) and then re-install but cd will not load other than in default.
I have a strange problem with DVDs. My system has two players and inserting a DVD will bring up the option to open Totem. However as soon as it opens it closes again. However I have found that if I have an audio cd playing in the first drive and I insert a video dvd in the second drive then totem plays the dvd. I have had no previous problems with Mint 5 or 6.

Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 Bug Thread
Not a bug since the incompatibilities are already known about, but helps to clarify it a little.
Tested the liveUSB stick on the Best Beloved's Acer laptop. It gave good video and Flash, smooth, no skipping. However it did NOT give Compiz functionality. His onboard graphics controller is an Intel Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated, rev3.
My desktop system gives good smooth video and Flash and DOES give full Compiz functionality. My onboard graphics controller is an Intel 82945G/GZ Integrated rev2.
Hope that helps a bit.

Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 Bug Thread
My main machine is similar. Everything works alright with the exception of full screen flash watching movies on Hulu. I can watch the movies in normal mode and they are fine, switching to full screen makes them choppy and out of sync. Sometimes selecting a screen saver will cause the system to freeze. My desktop system gives good smooth video and Flash and DOES give full Compiz functionality. My onboard graphics controller is an Intel 82945G/GZ Integrated rev2.
I submitted the bug report for flash.

As I understand, Ubuntu is not going to fix this bug until the next release. (We can only hope...)
Here is a thread with potential fixes.
