Hi, tdapple, they're both known issues with mintUpload, and are being worked on.

1) you won't find it in the menu, as it acts on files, not as a stand-alone app. Thus right-click on the required file and select "Upload" to start it up. We are considering enabling mintUpload to be launched stand-alone, then to use a file-selector. This feature *definitely* won't make it in time for the release.

2) This has actually been fixed in the community development version, though the fix probably won't make it into the main in time for the release. The problem again is that you're trying to run this alone. The correct syntax for the command-line (which appears as help in the newer version) is:
Code: Select all
mintupload /path/to/file

see also:
issue 1) http://github.com/emorrp1/mintupload/issues#issue/1
the development wiki (aka todo list): http://wiki.github.com/emorrp1/mintupload

EDIT: also I think the notifications should stay in the top right where they are.
If you have a question that has been answered and solved, then please edit your original post and put a [SOLVED] at the end of your subject header
Hint - use a google search including the search term site:forums.linuxmint.com

I did all updates including level3 so hopefully I did not cause this...

With the default look and compiz settings I have this bug

"the bottom panel is configured to show only windows on the current desktop, and that generally works - except that it shows "Buddy list" window on all desktops, not just the one where buddy list actually is."

Possible bug, possible feature?

At least two of us have found we can click on MintUpdate and it just opens, no password request.

Hi,

INXI is a tool that was designed for aiding support in the IRC channel, since it works perfectly in the IRC channel it would be better *not*
to change it to work in the terminal as this wasn't it's original function.

Mike.

Ps: Clem thanks for including it !

Old Marcus wrote:Might be to do with the theme, but I added a new toolbar and tried adding application launchers to it and I thought they weren't going on. Turns out they are, but they're invisible. Quite annoying and needs to be fixed.

EDIT: just checked, it is to do with the theme, it only happens on the shiki-mint theme.

Another thing, inxi, while nice, has some presentation faults. On the default terminal screen, the light grey text is hard to read. Also, it may look better and easier to read if the info was separated into lines, i.e:

Code: Select all
CPU[-Quad core Intel Core2 Quad Q9550 (SMP) clocked at 2003.000 Mhz-]
Kernel[-2.6.28-11-generic i686-]
Up[-23 min-]
Mem[-351.8/3276.7MB-]
HDD[-1000.2GB(12.4% used)-]
Procs[-155-]
Client[-Shell-]
inxi[-1.0.6-]

Appearance Preferences > Theme > Customize > Pointer

When you pick a new set of mouse pointers, it doesn't change automatically like in Felicia. You have to reboot your pc...

Could be because it uses gksudo, which gives you root access for 15 minutes before you have to enter your password again.

'apt install' can be used on Linux Mint as a shortcut for 'sudo apt-get install'. 'apt x' can be used for various other apt commands as well.

One small thing (bug):
When I insert the Linux Mint 7 RC1 CD under Windows, Autorun brings up a message "Invalid CD detected"
This can confuse and make people think that the CD they burned is invalid even though everything is fine (happened to me...).

Except for this, very nice release, many thanks to the dev team.

Greetings,

I abided to that, and used autoremove and promptly screwed up my system and had to reinstall.

Hello,
I must say , good first RC, except as Old Marcus and Sagar, i have had the same event, after using "computer janitor" and removed everything that was highlighted, most off the installation was ruined.. other than that (after new install) all works fine, i have read trough the bug tread here , and none of the problems occur to me.
But i have to say i never do any updates (anymore) maybe the reason of the errors by the others..
Looks good feels stable very already !!! very nice job !!!
let's see if Win7 can do this  hahaha

Control + Alt + Backspace in Felicia was used to restart X.
It didn't worked for me in Gloria.
Was it changed or removed?

you have to add something like this in the server flags section of Xorg.conf

Option "DontZap" "false"

im sure someone will chime in with the exact entry

edit:

open terminal and type

Code: Select all
gksudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

and add this (i added mine at the top just after the all all of messages with the # in front of them.
Code: Select all
Section "ServerFlags"
Option "DontZap" "false"
EndSection

then save and restart

Printer configuration detects HP Laserjet P1006. Pop-up window states that a plugin is required and if not installed that the printer will not work properly. Clicked on plugin install button. Supplied password as required, but then it neither downloaded nor installed the required plugin.

Re: Linux Mint 7 RC1 Bug Thread

Postby WildSioux on Wed May 06, 2009 2:37 pm

Just installed Mint 7 to upgrade to python 2.6. I had been using the Mint 6 KDE CE version because I am not a gnome fan. So far everything is working great with Mint 7. There are a few issues...

1.) Unable to enable any desktop visual effects. I am not looking for the full compiz package. I just want the basic effects that the KDE version had. I can't get anything to work and keep getting an error that "Desktop Effects Could not be enabled" after searching for video card drivers. This is in the "Change Desktop background" settings from the desktop and then the "Visual Effects" tab at the top. Clicking on any one of the three radio buttons >>Normal, Extra, Custom gives me this. I can't even set it to do a basic "Alt-Tab" for window switching. I have the latest Nvidia 180.51 installed from the nvidia website (synaptic shows an older one still).

2.) None that I can see right now but will post back if anything comes up.

Just right click your menu and go to preferences. The Main Button tab has a section called Keyboard shortcut. Change it to your liking.

The 64bit version will come, but it's just a question of when. I am sure not too long though.
