I don't have hardly any money.(actually - if you count the loans we have)
So I have seeded at least 2GB and will keep seeding for awhile.
I hope that counts for something.
I was just wondering if anyone knew that Firefox 2.0.0.4 was released to day.

Keep seedng folks

Yes it does. If everyone seeded their torrent then it would take some pressure off the system. I've been seeding for a couple of days. I;m closing down now because I am away from home. More seeding is good.

There's many ways to help and money is just one of them. Seeding the torrent is extremely good as well.

As for donations, you can look at this page to give an idea on how much other people donate:

http://www.linuxmint.com/donations.html

The idea behind financial support is that I can leave my job and work full time on the distribution, and then start to hire other people (artists like Niksa and Carlos, support people like Husse or Scorp123, developers like Lars.. people who currently bring a lot to Mint but only in their spare time).

At the moment the toal income represents approximately a 1/4 of my own salary, so we're far from hiring anyone or me going full time on it, but it makes it easy for me nonetheless to dedicate more time to it.

It's entirely up to you to decide whether you want to donate or not. You don't have to and there's no problem with not doing so. People contribute in their own way and sometimes a suggestion or a piece of feedback can be more valuable to us than a donation.

The best form of income for Mint is the sponsoring, because it brings us a regular and predictable income.... exactly like a salary :) At the moment we have 4 sponsors and together they make a salary of $12/month.

Again it's entirely up to you to decide how much you want to sponsor Mint, and if you do. If you want to make a financial contribution to the project I strongly recommend you become a sponsor. If we have a lot of people sponsoring the distro, even if it's a tiny bit it's a tiny bit per month.. and it adds up, this basically mean we can make salaries and pay people and hire them.

If you want to sponsor Mint, please visit this page:
http://www.linuxmint.com/sponsors.html

And if you want to get involved and contribute in different ways:

Our main sponsor (Az Van) changed the amount of his contributions, we're now getting $16/month.

Donations

I agree with KeithP. There should be a simpler way than Paypal of making a donation. How come you can't buy Cassandra from the store?

jediphx wrote:Wont install on my Inspiron E1505, I while its loading every other line says it cant fine BCMXXX and then ends at a prompt that Xserver could not start. Ubuntu 7.04 does same thing for me :(

That is the wireless driver. When I first installed Bianca the included BCM43xx driver didn't work because Dell used a slightly different version. Turning off your wireless card in the BIOS will stop the error, then you just need to boot (at least to command line, I'm not sure what the Xserver issue would be), and add the built in bcm43xx module to the black list then use ndiswrapper to add the dell supplied version. Full instructions are here - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=297092

I haven't upgraded to Cassandra yet myself, but I expect this will get the wireless card working.

I'll get Cassandra tonight (free download hrs!)
But I was waiting for Cassandra for XFCE. Can I get it via mintInstall or apt-get?

Isn't Dell shipping this with Feisty preloaded on it?

Clem

Yes the are, even the Inspiron E1505 N is selling with Ubuntu on it.
It's only in the US and Home Office section. I would normally go through Small Business because of better Customer Service on your Warranty.

I wonder if they added a dell section to the sources.list and if Linux Mint could use it?

Congrates Clem, class act. No problems to speak off and works a treat. Speed around the desktop on my P4-3.0 is great.
