Hi everybody,

First, let me wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Now, let's get down to what we're all here for: Linux Mint 2.1 Bea is out and available for download! :)

Download mirrors: http://linuxmint.com/download.html
Screenshots: http://linuxmint.com/screenshots.html
Release Notes: http://linuxmint.com/20061220.html

Installation notes:

- Make sure not to install anything from the Live CD prior to installation, including language packs, as this could potentially crash the installer. Leave the session in English and proceed to install. Once installed on the hard-drive, if you want to change the language, simply click on System->Administration->Language Support.

Hi Philippe,

Well I wanted Bea to be blue like Barbara.. so the new green artwork will be introduced into Bianca.

Congratulations Clem,

I wanted to be first, after your anouncement at noon, to congratulate you.
But as soon as I was ready to send in my message, our DSL line went caput!

Can't wait to see Bea. I hope conditions will be favorable here tonight to download the ISO.

I take it a re-install is required to see the full flavor of mint (Bea)?
No big deal for me as I use 1 partition for root and one for home and have for years.

i dont suppose theres a possibility of dist-upgrading?
is there a place where the packages are hosted so we can do it manually?

Hi,

I haven't had time to look into making upgrade paths so you'll need a fresh install. However I'll keep that in mind and come back with something for future releases.

Lads,

A torrent would be helpful. I know there's a lot of interest because your server is overwhelmed at the moment. Nice problem to have.

Nicely done Clem!!!!

The only thing I noticed (other than the 3d is not very good because Mint is based on Dapper - rage128 known issue) is that I couldn't stream well from shares on my other Linux computer. From my own hard drive I could play mp3s and avi files, but I couldn't stream them from the basement, even though I could see them.

Mint is lovely to use.

I came on the forums specifically looking for a torrent link and now I've found one, but I do want to make the suggestion that you have it available from the download page so everyone can use it. I've been seeding 2.0 for about a week and I've contributed 10 gigs worth of uploads, and I would like to think that I was doing my bit to help Mint by doing so. So I would I would like to continue to seed the latest version, but if no one can find the torrent link then I cant!

That aside, keep up the good work!

Excellent release Clem. Installed on main system and wife's laptop so far. Have to do the kids' PC as well.
