I am happy with Linux Mint on my desktop and was looking forward to the release of Linux Mint 9 in hopes that support for Realtek Rtl8191SE WIFI cards would be included so I coulduse it on my Toshiba A505-S6986 laptop. Unfortunately, this did not happen. In searching the internet for discussions of this problem I have found hundreds of users who are having the same experience. There are thousands of Toshiba laptops in use that have this WIFI card and it baffles me why it is not supported, especially since PCLinuxOS 10.10.1 KDE has added support for this card. I know there are ways that this driver can be installed, unfortunately some work and some don't as evidenced by the discussions. I would greatly appreciate someone researching and solving this problem.
Thanks

First impressions:
Seems the oddest things will make my machine restart (e.g., opening a game in WINE, changing the screen resolution). And it doesn't seem I can change the Nvidia settings like I used to, through the menu - I'll click on the menu item, the window will open, but when I, for example, try to tick the box to fix the aspect ratio, the window closes, none of the changes saved. I'm sure all these things can be easily rectified through a little digging.
However, the pendrive app is really nice, I like all the new options with the menu, and the update icon is great. I also like the boot-up graphics a lot.
Really great work here, guys, thanks very much for your efforts.

Hi,
@Clem: In News Update of May 1st 2010, you said that :
Further down the release cycle, we’ll also provide a remastering tool which will allow you to transform a Linux Mint ISO into a fully localized Linux Mint ISO booting in the language of your choice and including the necessary language packs.
Have you got a release date for this tool ?
Can you tell us more about this tool ?
Thanks.

Hi Dupo,
No ETA for it.
It will be a KISS-dumbed-down version of mintconstructor. It will ask you what language you're interested in, and it will install the language packs for this language, update isolinux (to boot straight with the preferred language) and remaster the ISO file.
Clem.

Well, then is it possible to do the same thing but manually ? Install language packages for one language, define locale for one language, update isolinux (to boot straight with the preferred language), and remaster the all things into an Iso file ?
Have you got a tutorial ?
Thanks.

I'm running Mint 9 64 bit clean install very successfully. Everything that I have tried to do (and the list is endless) seems to work and work faster (with the known exception of the package manager being slow).
But, I seem to be the only one having a problem with Amazon Video on Demand previews. It's not exactly that they don't run. They just sit there forever on the screen saying "Loading" with the dots moving across. Now, I can run any other videos and I have a very fast Internet connection. I know that this is a Flash application and I get Flash fine from other sites. This has gone on for days so it's not a fluke. I can't seem to Google anything up about it either.

Dupo, yes. You can do all that with mintconstructor... give it a try. There's no tutorial for it but it's quite straight forward. Alternatively just wait for the tool to be developed.. there's a few things coming up right now which take priority over it (namely LXDE and KDE editions are being tested).
Clem.

Hi Clem,
ok, I will try it.
There is something I found interesting for your tool. Check it
http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/traduction_liv ... ntu_karmic, see : Casper et messages de boot. Perhaps, you could add it in the tool
Bye.

OK, new install, and it's running awesome. Love the start-up disk creator, as I said before, and I also like the Move To/Copy To actions in Nautilus - pretty much the only thing I missed about KDE. Boot time is about the same as Mint 8, and it does run at about twice the memory (about 560MB as opposed to about 240MB), but the machine's not running any hotter and the CPU levels are the same, too. The system does run faster as well. Great job all.
